I gotta throw something less depressing out here to try and keep my game loving readers…

I got Madden Wii in the mail finally yesterday, and finally pulled myself enough out of my sorry state to pop it in. I hate two genres in video games: racing and sports. ExciteTruck was the first Wii game to truly wow me with it’s fun factor through the new controller, and Madden ‘07 is now another one. I haven’t owned a Madden game since ‘96 on the SNES, but I’m seriously considering turning this rental into a purchase (the $100 debt still left from my Wii purchase and the swell of DS games I want is kind of hurting that idea though).

The learning curve is there, but easy to overcome and actually a fun learning process. The drills are a great tutorial and are just fun to do, and it won’t be long before your ready for a game. Or really you could probably just jump in and try things, since you can pause and practice controls anytime in the middle of the game. I guess I should have expected the amazing amount of polish EA put on this game. Load times are about the only thing that kind of irked me (Nintendo fans are spoiled when it comes to load times)…

Normally I eskew EA games, especially the Madden series. But it’s a crime for any sports fan not to get this game, and really any gamer should give this game a try and get a look into the future of sports games and a demonstration on how sports games SHOULD be played. Sports should not be emulated through button pressing, it should involve physical movement. Madden Wii is both simple and remarkably in depth, adapting itself well to each player’s skill level.

Here’s a video on the game I posted a while back. Do yourself a favor and go check this game out, even if your not a sports fan. It’s one of the Wii’s most surprising launch titles IMO.
