So I beta’d Lord of the Rings Online and Magic The Gathering Online 3.0 today…

MTGO3…most the improvements over 2 seem cosmetic. I haven’t played MTGO in a long time, and I only recently kinda started playing MTG the card game again a little bit. While their new version may be a nice upgrade, the prices for virtual cards are still absolutely insane and no matter how awesome things get here it’s just too damn expensive…

Lord of the Rings Online = stereotypical fantasy MMO to the max. There is NOTHING new here. Everquest 2, WoW, and Final Fantasy XI will all give you a similar experience. The only special thing here is the franchise, and as a diehard Lord of the Rings fan let me tell you it’s not worth it. Maybe if I could be Gandalf it’d be different, but folks, stick to Guild Wars. Considering it’s lack of monthly fee, Guild Wars is still the definite best MMO around…
